Work Pattern: A total availability of 37hrs (1.0WTE) is available to be filled flexibly (fixed term or secondment**) until 31 March 2025. Part time working options are available. Please let us know during interviews your preferred weekly working pattern (e.g. Part time such 7.5hrs; 15hrs; 22hrs) or Full time (i.e. 37hrs)

Who We Are 

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.  

The Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) Directorate includes the Spiritual Care and Healthcare Chaplaincy workstreams and works at a national level to support the delivery of NES’s strategic plan and works in response to commissions from the Scottish Government, Territorial and National Boards and a range of stakeholders to develop Workforce Education. Our work and partnerships support practitioners working in Health and Social Care to develop throughout their careers and with high quality accessible resources to support their ongoing professional development. 

The Workforce Education and Career Development (WECD) programme within the NMAHP Directorate, the WECD Programme is responsible for developing education and associated frameworks to supports career development for NMAHP Registrants and Healthcare Support Workers 

This role offers to experience working as part of a dynamic programme to review some of the existing resources following the development of The Health and Care Staffing in Scotland Knowledge and Skills Framework, reflecting the guiding principles for health and care staffing, and to further develop resources for the Turas site Health and Care Staffing in Scotland which was developed to host resources designed to support the development of knowledge and skills at the Informed, Skilled, Enhanced and Expert levels; with a specific focus on the development of resources for the Expert level.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our Workforce Education and Career Development programme - this role is initially funded up to a maximum of 37hrs per week until 31 March 2025, so would be readily supported as a secondment opportunity** (part time working options are available).

  • Experience of the local enactment of the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act, 2019 

  • A registered NMAHP, Medical professional or associated professional educated to Masters level (or equivalent)  

  • Highly effective leader with proven experience of national working 

  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary   

  • Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads and that of others, and to meet strict deadlines  

  • Record of supporting and/or contributing to local and national education development 

  • Line management and coaching/mentoring experience
