NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
This will be across 1 PA of time (1PA = 4 hours)
The Scotland Deanery is responsible for postgraduate medical education. We are delighted to encourage applications for a Foundation Programme Director based in the West Region.
The Foundation Programme Director will be responsible for managing a Foundation Programme and the education and training needs of each individual on the programme (approximately 30 trainees). The FY1 trainees are largely based in Queen Elizabeth University hospital. The FY2 trainees are based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Royal Hospital for Children, Gartnaval General Hospital or GP
The Foundation Programme Director will be responsible for managing a Foundation Programme (W30 - FY1 & FY2) and the education and training needs of each individual on the programme.
The FPD should be a permanent member of staff (Consultant, GP or SAS doctor) based in Queen Elisabeth University Hospital and is accountable to the Postgraduate Dean or appropriate Associate Postgraduate Dean. He or she may also combine the role with that of an educational and/or clinical supervisor.
This is an existing FPD post and preference will be for clinicians based in Queen Elisabeth University Hospital or its environs. Applications are open to permanent staff (Consultant, GP or SAS doctor) and the preference would be for the FPD to be based in QEUH if possible. Applicants will be expected to have Recognition of Trainer status and will contribute, in partnership with the existing FPDs to the formal Foundation teaching programme in QEUH.
Applications are invited from trained doctors in the West region of Scotland who are in a substantive NHS or University post. All applicants must confirm prior to interview that their employer would support a Service Level Agreement for this role within their job plan.
