Job Title: Modern Apprentice - Administration Assistant - GP Out of Hours Service

Location: Caledonia House

Tenure: Fixed term - 18 months

Salary: Band 2 Salary Scale: £24,647 - £26,763

Modern Apprentice Salary: Starting salary: £18,734 or the Scottish Living Wage for your age bracket, whichever is highest

  • Band 2 Annexe 21 Year 1 – 70% of top of scale
  • Band 2 Annexe 21 Year 2 – 75% of top of scale

On successful completion of the programme, you will be supported into permanent employment at the entry point of a Band 2 starting salary scale.

Projected Start Date: Tuesday, 6th May 2025 (start date is subject to change)

The role: As an Apprentice within the GP Out of Hours Service, you will be working (over an 18 month period) towards achieving an SVQ Level 2 (SCQF Level 5) in Business Administration. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic to learn & develop through an apprenticeship within our service, working in our administration office during our in hours period. It is important that you take pride in working to a high standard, are keen to take on new challenges and will enjoy working as part of a diverse team. We are hoping to recruit someone with a positive outlook and a pro-active attitude who approaches tasks with a 'can do' attitude. Good communication skills are essential - as well as good written, verbal and listening skills - as you will be working in a large multi-disciplinary team. Our team are knowledgeable, friendly energetic and hardworking and so someone with an enthusiastic and friendly approach to work would be a great addition to our team.

The Modern Apprentice will:

  • provide comprehensive and effective clerical and administrative support to the Administration Team
  • deal with routine enquiries within the department, within their realm of responsibility

Entry Requirements:

Applications are considered on a competitive basis, which means not all candidates who meet the entry criteria will be guaranteed an interview.

  • A National 5 qualification (or SCQF equivalent) at Grade A-C in English or ESOL

AND

  • at least two National 4 qualifications (or SCQF equivalent), including Maths

AND

  • are within the specified age range*

  • to have fully completed the application form
