Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

The Dental Directorate is responsible for the management, funding and provision of Postgraduate Education for Dentists and Dental Care Professionals within Scotland and pre-registration training for dental nurses. Postgraduate Education is provided for practitioners within the General Dental Service, Public Dental Services and the Hospital Dental Service. The Directorate is responsible for overseeing the provision of Foundation Training for new dental graduates, and CPD courses for general dental practitioners and dental care professionals. In addition to this the directorate oversees the dental training grades in the Hospital service, is responsible for the management of Dental ACT and student outreach funds, and produces evidence based clinical guidance to support the profession.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Business Manager to join our talented team to play a key role in delivering the operational and business management function across the Directorate, leading and supporting a team of business and administrative staff to work proactively and help the Directorate achieve its key aims.

You will work across 3 workstreams: Clinical Effectiveness, Dental Workforce Development and Dental Care Professional Education, and have operational responsibility for 3 Dental Education Centres in Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh.

Do you have strong leadership skills, continuously supporting and empowering your team to deliver results?

Do you enjoy problem solving, identifying solutions and following through to an end result, as well as empowering teams to do the same?

Do you enjoy engaging with stakeholders, building strong relationships and contributing towards a shared vision for the future in order to support positive change?

Do you enjoy making a tangible difference, influencing improved ways of working, sharing and implementing innovative ideas?

Do you enjoy working at pace and being adaptive to an everchanging environment?

Working within the Dental Directorate, you will have the opportunity to bring your unique skills and experience to enable both working autonomously and collaborating across multiple workstreams, proactively working to manage change and improvement across a number of key projects and programmes.

Does this sound like you?
