Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.


The Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) Directorate works to support the education, training and continuing professional development of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, health and social care chaplain and healthcare support workers. The Directorate is also responsible for providing education, training and workforce development across wider professional groups and disciplines, often in partnership with other agencies, to support key policy drivers.


The Opportunity

This is an integral role within NHS Scotland’s practice education infrastructure.

This practice educator role will ensure access to learning and development resources directly relevant to clinical care closer to where nurses and midwives practice. The post holder will be employed by NHS Education for Scotland and will be hosted within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and will cover other boards within the West region as required. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated nurse or midwife educator to provide visible and sustainable educational leadership, working collaboratively across NHS Education for Scotland and the West region of Scotland. A key outcome for the role is to support the education and development of nurses and midwives across the career framework, particularly focussing on levels 5 and 6 practitioners in care giving roles.

  • Expertise related to education is a requirement for this post, therefore experience within an education, teaching or facilitation role
