Work Pattern: Fixed Term, Full Time, 37 hours per week
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Fixed-term or Secondment** until March 31st 2028

NES Technology Service (NTS) has created a strategic programme for the transformation of digital based services to allow NES to become a leading digital organisation in Scottish Health, digital by default and fully aligned with the Scottish Government’s technology strategies.

The Opportunity
We are looking for two User Researchers to join the talented team working on MyCare.scot, a major new public-facing digital service which allows people to get direct access to their health and care information and wider health and care services.
As a digital service growing to national scale, ensuring MyCare.scot understands and takes account of user needs and behaviour is central to its success. This results in a growing demand for user experience research and overall user research from across the teams working on MyCare.scot.
Do you have experience in running UX research and/or usability testing using live services and digital prototypes?
Do you care about making sure people involved in research activities have a good consistent experience?
Do you enjoy uncovering user behaviours, needs and motivations to help teams design products and systems that reflect a deep understanding of their users’ needs and goals?
Do you know how to work well within a multi-disciplinary agile team with designers, developers and product managers?
Do you enjoy getting into the details of good documentation and process so that insights gained from user research can be used by a range of audiences?
Working within the User-Centred Design Group and overall team working on MyCare.scot, you will have the opportunity to provide actionable insights that represent the voice of our current and possible future users to directly inform the improvement, development and delivery of user-centred digital services for the general public and health and care professionals.

What We Love to See
A User Researcher needs to offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:
- Proven experience as a user researcher or equivalent role
- A clear understanding of user research techniques in the context of digital services/web applications, for existing and in-development products
- Experience of managing usability testing of web or mobile applications
- Understanding of user recruitment and how to optimise the impact of remote research
- Experienced in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, communicating research in a clear, meaningful and actionable manner
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary
- Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads, to meet strict deadlines
