We are offering exciting opportunities for 9 month secondments for 1.6 WTE Band 6 Practice Education Facilitator posts, full or part time posts will be considered. The posts will be aligned to specific areas within critical care, e.g. surgical HDU, and will involve an element of working with learners and supervisors/assessors within the clinical environment (not as part of the rota). We welcome applications for these opportunities to join our Practice Education Team, please state the hours you are interested in on your application.

We are seeking motivated, innovative registered nurses to be part of the Surgical Practice Education Team, led by a Lead Practice Educator. The post-holder will work together with the team to support pre and post registration training and education within the critical care areas. The post-holder should hold a post-registration academic qualification in critical care or have an extensive critical care background and experience in critical care, as per the critical care guidelines.

Applicants should have excellent care values, enthusiasm to work as part of a team and the motivation to learn and develop self and colleagues within exciting and challenging high pressure environments. You should be dynamic and forward thinking in your approach and focused on providing safe, effective, person-centred education.

Applicants should be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and,

  • Have extensive experience in critical care with a post-registration critical care qualification
  • Have extensive experience at Band 5 or above in posts which included supporting supervising and assessing learners and should be a current Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate and influence change, using highly developed interpersonal and diplomacy skills

And desirable would be to have;

  • Postgraduate certificate in teaching or relevant recognised education qualification
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Involvement in developing and using educational resources

The applicants will be required to work closely with, and be supported by, the senior practice education team.
