An opportunity has arisen to apply for the position of Specialist Clinical Engineering Technologist and Medical Physics University of Dundee Support within the Clinical Engineering section of the Medical Physics Department. NHS Tayside is seeking an individual who will bring excellent teaching, collaboration and technical skills to the Medical Physics team. The post is full time.


The Clinical Engineering section provides expert support to NHS Tayside via its workshops; Anaesthetics, Design & Development, Electronics, Mechanical, Perth Royal Infirmary, Renal and Support Services. The department directly looks after, or manages the contract for, all medical equipment across NHS Tayside. You will have a role in the maintenance of medical equipment across one or more of these workshops.


The Clinical Engineering section provides significant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for the University of Dundee across a range of biomedical engineering modules. You will be responsible for all aspects of support for this teaching, including but not limited to agreeing timetables before the start of each module, delivering some lectures and arranging the delivery of all others, devising and supervising practical laboratory sessions, setting exams and coursework, marking student submissions and dealing with ad-hoc student queries. There may also be the opportunity to supervise student projects that are related to Clinical Engineering.


The successful candidate will have some teaching and technical experience, but support will be provided.


The post is based in the Department of Medical Physics at Ninewells Hospital. The post holder will be expected to work at all sites where services are offered by NHS Tayside and at the University of Dundee for teaching and planning commitments.

Hours of work are: 37 per week – Flexibility required.
