NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern will be confirmed upon employment.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, is one of the largest paediatric centres in the UK and is a national and tertiary referral centre for a wide range of paediatric specialities.

We require an experienced paediatric physiotherapist with an interest in oncology and neurosurgery or a suitably qualified adult physiotherapist with experience in cancer care and/or neurosurgery to join our dynamic acute neurology physiotherapy team within the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

You will be responsible for overseeing, influencing and providing the clinical delivery of the cancer and neurosurgery physiotherapy service to children and young people and ensuring clinical practice is effective and evidence based. This includes the bone marrow transplant national service for Scotland.

Together, with members of the acute neurology physiotherapy team, you will be expected to manage a highly complex caseload of haematology, oncology and neurosurgical physiotherapy referrals.  You will work closely with other members of the MDT as well as representing RHC physiotherapy at national managed service networks. You will have highly specialist knowledge in the management of common and complex cancer and neurosurgical presentations including their surgeries and pathways, and other relevant medical conditions, all within the context of child development.  You will be expected to participate in respiratory on-call evening, weekend and public holiday duties.

The post remit includes clinical management, peer review, appraisal and supervision. Possessing excellent teaching and communication skills together with experience of service development, you will lead and participate in clinical audit, in-service training, service improvement and undergraduate placement education. Our friendly department offers robust peer group and management support, in-service training and close links with our acute and community allied health, nursing and medical colleagues.

You must have a degree/diploma in physiotherapy, registered with the Health Professional Council, experience of paediatric or adult physiotherapy in oncology and/or neurosurgery with a demonstrated understanding of the role of Physiotherapy within current emerging health environment and awareness of National Initiatives. Enhanced Disclosure Scotland Clearance.
