The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Tier 4 Intensive CAMHS team within Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The Intensive CAMHS team seeks to support young people to be maintained in their homes and communities without the requirement for inpatient mental health care or as a result of discharge from inpatient care to enable maintenance of their recovery in their home settings.

It is anticipated as part of this role you will support young people with a range of mental health presentations, including eating disorder patients with meal time support, urgent mental health assessments and intensive therapeutic work supporting young people and their families in their homes. You will work across Greater Glasgow and Clyde in range of settings including in homes, clinics, hospital sites and mental health assessment units. The post holder will have responsibility for the joint assessment and treatment planning of patient care, within a community and home based
setting.

The post holder will have an integrated approach, liaising with other CAMHS Teams for home based intensive input and working collaboratively with other disciplines.

The post holder will be committed to providing quality care to all young people referred to the service from the various referral routes, during the post discharge period of an inpatient stay and where clinically appropriate as an alternative to hospital admission including crisis intervention and support. Many of the young people seen by the post holder

These will be delivered primarily in community/home based settings, in isolation from other parts of CAMHS, and involve young people who are in crisis due to deteriorating severe mental health difficulties and who are at significant risk to themselves or others

Full Driver’s License is essential for the post.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location based in Templeton Business Centre
  • Fixed-term Contract (for 12 months)
  • Full-time position (37 hours per week)
  • Shift Pattern for this post are from 0800am to 20:15pm, 12 hour shifts including weekends


Key responsibilities:

The post-holder will be responsible for:

  • Within TURAS outlines the post holder will function as Named Nurse, within a multi-disciplinary team to a defined group of patients

  • Develop and lead in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

  • In conjunction with the team leader to set, monitor and evaluate standards of care within the defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Ward, and Service to ensure adherence to, and delivery of a high quality service. This will include the regular audit and monitoring of clinical practice.

  • Carrying out all relevant forms of nursing care pertinent to the needs of the patient group within the defined clinical areas in accordance with relevant legislation

  • Identifying and responding to the needs of patients which might be related to gender, health, domestic abuse, and child protection. Working with Children’s Act.

  • Using decider skills to deliver therapeutic interventions to young people.

  • Maintain accurate records of nursing care in accordance with relevant legislation.

  • Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and carers thereby ensuring that care needs are identified and met within a participative framework which recognises the principles of equity, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity as defined by the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential:

  • 1st level Registered Mental Nurse / Learning Disability Nurse (RMN/RLDN) with live NMC registration
  • Evidence of team working skills · Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work using own initiative and without direct supervision in the context of agreed tasks
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards children and young people
  • Demonstrates knowledge of factors which impact on mental health and emotional well-being
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Evidence Based Practice
  • Ability to fulfil main duties and responsibilities as outlined in job description.
  • Demonstrates an ability/willingness to work towards achieving the competencies identified in ‘Essential CAMHS’
  • Full Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Previous post-qualification experience within a relevant clinical area
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional development
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • To have worked with children and young people in any setting
