The Flow Centre is an award winning team based at Astley Ainslie that coordinates all urgent care and transport for patients across Lothian. The Flow Centre is open 7 days per week 365 days per year, answering 4500 inbound calls per week. Come and be part of a multi-disciplinary service that has a Lothian wide view of care and be part of making a difference to the patient journey. We are looking for a positive team player that enjoys a busy working environment, is flexible and is patient focussed, with excellent coordination skills.

 The Call Handler role includes:

  • booking taxi, courier, and Blood Bikes Scotland transport by applying the appropriate policy or guideline
  • taking patient calls and use Trak to book transport for patients to Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Glasgow
  • using Trak to book transport for discharge of patients from NHS Lothian and NHS Borders sites.
  • applying guidelines, determine the most appropriate patient transport method and book accordingly
