About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level.  NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.  Supporting the join-up of Health and Social care through digitisation and inter-operability is an important part of the role.

The post:
In line with Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates guidance, National Services Division (NSD) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Lead Clinician (Midwife) for the National Maternity Network. The Midwife Lead will provide clinical leadership to the Network jointly with the Obstetrician Lead. The appointment is for a fixed term of up to three years.

The candidate:
The Network Lead Clinician will have a key strategic role in working nationally with clinical and non-clinical colleagues, third sector organisations, Scottish Government and other stakeholders to drive forward the development of an effective, integrated, multidisciplinary service for maternity care throughout Scotland. As a part of the overarching, strategic Scottish Perinatal Network, the work of the National Maternity Network will also support the implementation of recommendations in The Best Start, the Scottish Government’s five-year plan for maternity and neonatal care in Scotland.
Applicants will be leaders in maternity care with experience in the provision and development of maternity services. A proven record in leading change, the ability to work across traditional organisational, geographical and professional boundaries, and a demonstrable understanding of the ethos of managed clinical networks are essential.
Applicants must have a current substantive role as an NHS Scotland employee and have the agreed support of their line manager for this post to be incorporated into their job plan. The employing NHS Board will be recompensed for the agreed sessional commitment on the basis of evidence of actual backfill costs incurred to release the individual to fulfil the Lead Clinician role requirements.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC/GMC/GDC/HCPC registration at the time of applying.
