Job Advert

Please note this is a fixed-term post for 2 years, Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have had an agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post

The  Senior Health Promotion Officer will be required to lead the development and delivery of a programme of Health Improvement work for refugees, asylum seekers, or other displaced people resettled within the Lanarkshire area. Resettlement is an evolving picture and in this role, the post-holder will be required to work with response team colleagues to quickly mobilise and coordinate activity in support of the health and social care needs of resettlement cohorts residing and arriving, as well as delivering a population health programme which aims to reduce health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing in the medium and longer-term. A full valid UK driving licence holder will be essential for this position to meet the needs of the service.

Key work area: In partnership with public health and other key partners, design and undertake a holistic Health Needs Assessment (HNA) of the resettled population in Lanarkshire (recognizing that this is not static) in order to inform a plan of health care delivery and health improvement. Working with key stakeholders, contribute to the development and implementation of a Lanarkshire Resettlement Population Health Plan incorporating health care, public health, and health improvement activity that responds to the varying health needs of this heterogeneous population. Provide project management leadership for Health Improvement across the work streams, as well as coordination, connection, and management support. Develop a performance management framework including monitoring and reporting arrangements through appropriate governance structures. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and community planning partners to ensure a collective effort and whole-system action is taken to improve the health and wellbeing of the resettled population. Lead on a range of activities in support of the delivery of this program and plan, including planned communications; financial management; identifying evidence-based good practice; community engagement, and co-production; undertaking evaluation; delivering presentations, and report writing. Seek to influence the shape of universal services such that they respond appropriately to meet the specific needs and are sensitive to the demographic characteristics of resettled people, including barriers to engagement. Work with partners to develop new or capitalize on existing pathways, networks, and support available within the community that enhances health, wellbeing, and community resilience.
