We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated clinical pharmacist to work as part of the University Hospital Monklands (UHM) Gastroenterology IBD Multidisciplinary Team.

This exciting role will contribute to the Gastroenterology Service both in the outpatient and inpatient settings across NHS Lanarkshire to ensure patients with IBD receive high-quality pharmaceutical care. You will work alongside the Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist, in addition to another Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for IBD and a team secretary.  You will also work closely with Consultant Gastroenterologists and IBD Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide pharmaceutical care to patients within NHS Lanarkshire wards, clinics and day units. The post holder will become an integrated member of the consultant-led multidisciplinary team and liaise closely with the Homecare and Aseptic Pharmacy Teams to ensure patients access their IBD medicines in a safe and timely manner. As such, holding a pharmacist independent prescribing qualification or the ability to work towards this is essential for this post.  The post holder will contribute to the medicines, finance and clinical governance agenda and associated systems for medicine use within the gastroenterology service.  This will include developing and reviewing clinical protocols as well as undertaking quality and service improvement initiatives.

There will be a focus on ensuring safe, cost-effective, evidence-based and person-centred use of biological medicines.  There will also be a requirement to contribute to the development and implementation of IBD pharmacist-led clinics to review biologics and other therapies associated with gastroenterology.

There will also be an opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills as part of this post, in addition to working towards accreditation with the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to develop this fairly new service across NHS Lanarkshire.
