An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioner Team within the Emergency Department.  As an ANP working within the Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, to undertake the role, you must utilise high levels of decision making and clinical judgment. Ensure that patient health needs are met through the provision of a diagnosis and the management of patient conditions through the assessment, treatment, and review planning process in partnership with patients and families. Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients, and relatives. The ANP role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator, and auditor. 

You will assist in the development of the service to improve practice and work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policies.  You will be expected to function effectively under pressure without compromising basic standards of care and professionalism.

You must have advanced clinical expertise and be willing to participate in research and audit projects.  In return we will offer you excellent managerial support and commitment to your professional development.  You will have daily consultant/registrar supervision and an established team of ANPs to support your development.

We encourage those with relevant Acute medical, Emergency or critical care experience to apply. If post holder does not hold a Post graduate diploma in Advanced clinical practice, the post will be on an Annex 21 training position for the duration of the training until Post graduate diploma in Advanced clinical practice is awarded.  

For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:

  • up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
  • more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified;
  • more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
  • more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.

Hours: 37.5hrs per week - working rotational shift pattern over 7 days including both days /evenings/twilights
