The Bladder and Bowel Nurse Team (BBNT) is a small nurse led service, comprising of a small team of registered nurses who have specialised knowledge in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of adult bladder and bowel dysfunction. The team play a vital role in not only assessing patients but providing advice and support to a wide range of health professionals, patients, family members and carers.
Within the Bladder and Bowel Nursing Team we have Healthcare Support Workers, who have specialised training to become Product Specialists. The Product Specialists contribute to the daily running of the Bladder and Bowel Nursing Team.
This post will support the nursing team by carrying out assessments for incontinence products without supervision, ensuring that patients get the most appropriate product to meet their needs. The Product Specialists provide education and support in use of recommended products to patients and their carers according to treatment plan.
The Product Specialist will also assist by reassessing existing service users. The nursing and Product Specialist staff work collaboratively to ensure that a high quality of service is provided. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialised team, who are passionate in promoting bladder and bowel health and ensuring patients have the most suitable containment products post assessment and treatment.
Vacancy details
We have two full time posts available.
You will be able to work independently Monday to Friday on home visits in Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian, occasional clinics and in an office setting, where your base will be at Astley Ainslie Hospital.
Criteria
Car driver with current driving licence. Post holder may be required to work flexibly across several different sites around Lothian
Experience of working in the community setting is desirable.
SVQ 3 or equivalent.
An interest in bladder and bowel care and willingness to undertake education to increase knowledge base.
Previous experience in a caring environment.
