About Us 

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is Scotland largest NHS Health Board with around 40,000 dedicated members of staff employed in over 350 clinical and non-clinical roles across a diverse range of health and care facilities.  

We manage the entirety of the NHS Health Board’s recruitment activity for staff within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde making us an extremely busy operational service supporting the organisation.

Our Recruitment Team cover recruitment and selection activity across all NHS professions which include Nursing and Midwifery, Allied Health Professionals, Administrative Services, Healthcare Sciences, Support Services (Estates and Facilities) and Medical and Dental for all clinical and non-clinical recruitment programmes. 

About the role 

The purpose of the role is to deliver an end to end recruitment, on boarding and compliance service ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout. 

The post holder will often be the first point of contact for our hiring managers, their staff and job applicants for recruitment and selection activity and will ensure that excellent communication both written and verbal is maintained throughout the recruitment journey.  Working  on a high volume of  vacancies  at any one time  the role is extremely varied. 

The role demands candidates who are organised and able to work to tight time frames. You must be proactive, highly adaptable and have the ability to prioritise. Our Recruitment service is fast paced so you must be able to work well under pressure.

As part of this role you will have the opportunity to support our Recruitment Open Days and Job Fairs which take place across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde locations and external venues; as these can take place occasionally at weekends flexibility is essential.

As a key member of the Recruitment team you will provide advice and assistance to our hiring managers , their staff and job applicants on Recruitment related issues and will have the opportunity to help support and introduce innovative changes that help improve service delivery.

You will work within our Standard Operating Procedures and  service performance targets . Duties  include handling vacancy requests to hire, scheduling and administering interviews, carrying out pre-employment checks, processing contracts of employment, carrying out ID /Right to Work checks, supporting UK Immigration Visa processes and facilitating new start payroll engagement processes. 

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's  level of recruitment activity means that you will need to be highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively. You will show good attention to detail, be accurate and passionate about providing superb customer service to all those who come into contact with our Recruitment service. 

Person Specification 

 It is essential that you are able to demonstrate through experience excellent attention to detail, advanced keyboard skills, including good Microsoft Word, Excel and a high level of IT literacy .  The ability to converse and build credibility with a diverse group of professional staff, managers and the public is essential. 

Applications are welcome from those who can bring to the role experience of Recruitment/HR procedures and practices and in particular experience of pre-employment compliance employment screening processes. An understanding UK Immigration Right to Work check and UK Immigration Visa processes is desirable  as is experience of using Recruitment Applicant Tracking and or HR IT systems whether within the NHS or wider Public or Private sector . ​​​​​​​

You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team and have a proactive and flexible approach to work. Working alongside a supportive and highly experienced team you will be encouraged to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge in NHS Recruitment.
