An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory to join our senior team in the Microbiology Laboratory at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital is a modern and well equipped hospital and was purpose-built to provide the very highest standard of accommodation and facilities for patients, visitors and staff. Mature woodland, ponds, landscaped courtyards and gardens are on site for both staff and visitors to enjoy.
Applicants must have a M.Sc. qualification and / or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science with experience as a biomedical scientist, working within a team in an NHS microbiology laboratory. Evidence of active participation in continuing professional development is also required.
Professional and academic advancement is encouraged and BMS staff will be supported in areas of specialist interest.
The laboratory provides Microbiology support to the acute hospital and also to general practices and community hospitals in the surrounding area. We handle around 300,000 investigations per year, covering a wide range of analyses provided the Virtuo Blood Culture system, Vitek 2 –XL and Vitek –MS Maldi-TOF technology, IQ Sprint urinalysis and Vidas immunoassay, with Abbott Serology and Molecular solutions also on site.
The laboratory is accredited by UKAS ISO 15189 (2012).
Participation in our on call and shift rota will be expected in this post.
The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Standard Police Act Disclosure Scotland Check.
