NHS Lanarkshire are looking to recruit a highly motivated expert pharmacy cancer care practitioner to be the Lead Cancer Care Pharmacist due to retiral of the current post holder. This position will lead, manage and develop an exceptional team of specialist and highly specialist cancer care pharmacists and cancer care pharmacy technicians. You will lead, develop, deliver and evaluate pharmacy systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) clinical services to the cancer patient population within NHS Lanarkshire. The pharmacy service will operate in accordance with national SACT and patient safety standards, regional cancer network governance arrangements and local health board service requirements. The pharmacy cancer care team supports cancer services in all three Lanarkshire Acute Hospitals (University Hospitals Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyres).
The post holder will provide highly specialist and complex expert advice to the Acute Division Management Team, Director of Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy Managers and will work collaboratively with senior medical staff, the multidisciplinary and hospital management teams to improve and develop the pharmaceutical service to cancer patients. The post holder will also provide advice to the Health Board on the likely service and financial impact of the introduction of new cancer and supportive drug treatments.
Participation in the work of regional and national Managed Clinical Networks and other specialist groups such as SOPPG and BOPA is required to facilitate the development of best practice and evidence based guidelines to support the treatment of patients with cancer. The post holder will also be expected to participate in SACT prescribing services as part of a clinical session to a specific tumour group.
