An exciting post as Chief Nurse has arisen within the Women & Children’s Directorate, Acute Services Division of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health organisation in Scotland providing acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of 1.2 million in 6 local authority areas.

The Women & Children’s Directorate provides a range of services across Greater Glasgow & Clyde and the West of Scotland. It also hosts a range of National Services a number of which are provided from the Royal Hospital for Children.

We are now seeking an exceptional and inspirational Chief Nurse to join our team.

The successful applicant would be based at Scotland’s state of the art Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

As a member of the Women & Children’s Directorate Senior Management Team, the post holder will play an active role in contributing to the strategic direction of the Directorate, supporting the Director to manage the delivery of a range of high quality, economic, safe, efficient and patient-centered services in compliance with national and local targets.

The principle objective of the post is to lead the nursing workforce and inspire, direct and promote systemic improvements in Clinical Care and Healthcare Quality across paediatric and neonatal services and foster a culture which values continuing professional development and strives for excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient safety and care.

We have over 2,200 (1,972wte) nurses working in our teams across a diverse range of services and multiple sites.

Services are evolving in response to changing needs and in light of COVID-19 requiring new and changing service models and we are seeking someone who can lead the nursing profession through these changes and work closely with our clinical and non-clinical colleagues to deliver strategic change, service transformation and continuous quality improvement.

A registered nurse with a first degree (paediatric branch desirable) and post graduate Master’s degree, you will have significant senior management experience in the NHS or another complex multi-disciplinary public or private sector organisation.

Strong influencing and leadership qualities and a significant and demonstrable track record of success in the delivery of organisational change and partnership working are also key requirements of the role.
