This is a full-time permanent post. You will be expected to participate in a 5/7 day work pattern, weekend working, Public Holiday service and on-call.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to lead the pharmaceutical care services to both cardiology inpatients and outpatients within the medical directorate based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI).
The cardiology pharmacy team on this site work with the multidisciplinary team in managing a defined inpatient case load, participation in weekly clinics and proactively seek to further develop cardiology pharmacy services in specialist clinics.
The post holder:
- will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team, advising and promoting the safe effective use of medicines and supporting a rotational band 7 pharmacist and band 5 clinical technician. You will work closely with Lead Clinical Pharmacists for Medicine, Advanced Pharmacists in other specialties and the MDT to provide a constant, equitable, high quality clinical pharmacy service.
- should have a Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, have a post graduate diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification, be an Independent Prescriber and have experience of tutoring/mentoring. Membership of the Faculty of Royal Pharmaceutical Society or working towards is advantageous but not essential.
- should have a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in hospital. Your experience will have been gained working in a patient focussed environment using your knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines including experience of undertaking research and/or audit. Experience of working within a Cardiology service is essential. Excellent management and communication skills with a flexible approach to working are essential to the role. You will be expected to participate in a 5/7 day work pattern, weekend working, Public Holiday service and on-call.
This role is an Advance Pharmacist Cardiology at GRI but will also be required to deputize for the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Medicine on occasions, including cross site cover for other cardiology pharmacists.
