Assistant GP Director West of Scotland  

Hours: 4 PA’s:  16 hours per week

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations 

 This is a new Assistant GP Director post within NES.  Although the postholder will be looking after the West region, this may be subject to change depending on the needs of GP training.  The Assistant Director of Postgraduate General Practice Education (AD) has responsibility for assisting the Postgraduate GP Dean/Director of Postgraduate GP Education in the development and management of education for General Practice in the West Region of the Scotland Deanery particularly, but responsibility may extend to other programmes outwith this region. Responsibility for particular programmes will be discussed at interview. 

The AD will work with the Director and other colleagues to discharge this responsibility across the Deanery. The AD is accountable to the Director of Postgraduate General Practice Education and ultimately to the Medical Director. 

The AD role will include commitment to national Scotland Deanery activities. The national activities will be negotiated with the Director.
