Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

37.5 hours are available for this post but we would welcome applications from candidates who would request part time hours of 28 hours or more. Our working week is Monday to Friday and core hours are usually between 8.30am and 4.30pm but we are happy to discuss hours at the interview.  Post is fixed term for 12 months from January 2023.

We have an exciting opportunity in Children and Young People’s Physiotherapy to join the team as a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW). While experience as a HCSW in the NHS would be an advantage, a background in a relevant Paediatric or Child Care role could provide the required transferable skills required for this post.

As a HCSW, you will be a core member of a small, friendly and very supportive clinical team who work together to support children and young people within clinics and across community settings across the large, rural region of Dumfries and Galloway.  We work closely with colleagues in health, education and community services ensuring that our children and families experience multi agency practice.  You will also have a core role with supporting others in the team which will include time in the office making calls, preparing therapy materials and supporting the therapists with preparation for clinics/visits.

We are committed to providing excellent support to our staff, encouraging personal and professional development.  Our main base is at The Willows, a purposely redesigned multi disciplinary Children and Family’s Centre, set in the beautiful Crichton grounds however the service is regionwide.

You will need to be flexible, be able to prioritise and manage your time effectively. Access to own transport is essential as travel will be required due to the geography of the region.

Please contact Joanne Service, AHP Manager for Children and Young People on joanne.service@nhs.scot for informal enquiries.
