Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service – Clinical Lead, 4 Sessions per Week to March 2024
The new Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service is part of a national initiative to improve the journey of patients with ‘vague but concerning symptoms, suggestive of cancer’, where we will aim to see, investigate and diagnose patients within 21 days of referral.
Pilots in Fife, Dumfries & Galloway and Ayrshire have been very successful, and the service in Borders is part of a second phase of implementation. The service has been funded to run as a pilot until March 2024, with the intention that this will continue if successful.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new service that will provide significant benefits for patients.
We are looking for an experienced General Practitioner to undertake the role of Clinical Lead in the new service. The Clinical Lead will be responsible for investigating and following up patients on this pathway, participate in the MDT and leading development of the service model.
It is planned that interviews will be held virtually on Thursday 5th January.
