Technical Manager / Section Head (Medical Equipment Management Services (MEMS)
NHS Grampian has an immediate requirement for an experienced individual to join in the role of Technical Manager. The primary focus of this role in ensuring all Medical Equipment Services are maintained across various clinical disciplines within NHS Grampian’s extensive Clinical Portfolio across a wide geographical area.
The post holder will be responsible and accountable for prioritisation, planning and management of his/her own workload and that of the other Specialist Electronics Technicians in their sub-section on a daily basis. There will be a number of on-going jobs, which will vary in urgency. In addition to jobs already started, requests may be received requiring action to try to remedy reported problems on equipment. The post holder has to assess the urgency of these calls and decide on the appropriate action, which may well result in having to rearrange work schedules.
The Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring that their jobs and that of the staff are carried out according to agreed protocols and for ensuring that other necessary safety checks are carried out so that equipment being returned to, or entering, clinical service is safe and functional. He/she is responsible for ensuring that adequate records are kept in the maintenance system of all work carried out. The day to day operational service delivery is largely autonomous, under the direction of the Technical Manager.
A relevant degree or equivalent experience working in a Technical Management role in any one of a range of industries is required. For this senior post at least 7 years post qualification experience is required, or proven equivalent experience of working in a senior Technical Management role.
