NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

We are seeking a highly motivated person to work in this specialist forensic service which serves the Edinburgh and Lothian Community Justice Authority. The position will involve working as part of a team of clinical psychologists and forensic psychiatry. The aim of the service is to work with criminal justice agencies to help manage high risk personality disorders offenders in the community. This is done through a consultation/liaison model as this allows for involvement in a wider range of cases. A small number of cases are taken on for thorough assessment involving personality and risk assessments. The successful applicant will therefore be involved in a significant amount of consultation, training and supervision but will also require expertise in the assessment of offenders who pose a serious risk of harm. In this

positive multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment, the successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively with other professionals and other agencies. The service has close links with all the agencies involved in MAPPA locally and the service is integral to NHS Lothian fulfilling its responsibilities under MAPPA. This post therefore provides a rare chance for an experienced clinical psychologist to develop their career in a highly rewarding area. The post is part of the wider forensic clinical psychology service within the Orchard Clinic medium secure unit. There will be close links with the East of Scotland Clinical Psychology training course and Edinburgh University, together with opportunities for service orientated research.

Continuing professional development will be encouraged.

NHS Lothian is committed to fair and equitable conditions of employment. As an organisation it recognises that employees may require to change their place of residence because of taking up a post and so will ensure that where this is the case employees are reimbursed appropriately and relocation expenses will be considered for this post, further details are available on request or at interview.  As a service we can offer training, development opportunities and support and a good friendly team to work in.
