This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills and supervisory experience working within the Acute Medical team based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. You will have the opportunity to work across the Acute Medical Admissions Unit, Frailty Assessment Ward, Short Stay Medical, A&E, General Medical, Oncology, Haematology, Medicine for the Elderly, Gastrointestinal, Cardiology, Dermatology, Renal and Infectious Disease wards.

You should have demonstrable advanced clinical skills/knowledge from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across the Medical specialities.You will have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in a busy and fast paced environment with a focus on person centred care, evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, early supported discharge, multi-professional integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will deliver Physiotherapy interventions and develop therapeutic programmes and discharge pathways to meet the needs of the patients referred to the service.

You will have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in service development, clinical governance and clinical research.

The Physiotherapy service in Dundee is dedicated to the delivery of the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing excellent patient care. Positive staff and patient experience is a priority and at the forefront of everything we do.

Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.

You will participate on the on call rota (week overnights and weekends) after a period of training and supported induction.

Hours of work are:  37.5 per week. Part time hours will also be considered. Please discuss at interview if you wish to work reduced hours.
