In the Laboratory Specimen Reception Department, you will work as part of a small team receiving and preparing clinical specimens for analysis. You will register patient related information onto our Laboratory Information System and other manual systems whilst dealing with telephone, email and face to face queries from our service users. Additionally you will work closely with the Biomedical Scientists to facilitate optimal sample processing from hospital and GP service users.
In addition, this varied role could also see you handling and disposal of biological waste, receiving and monitoring of laboratory supplies, carrying out routine safety and quality checks on point-of-care analysers used by others across various hospital departments, performing cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and performing basic patient sample testing appropriate to proven levels of competence.
