An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist with experience in stroke. This is a new role and will support us in providing a timely, equitable service to the population of South Ayrshire requiring Speech and Language Therapy services following a stroke. An essential feature of this post is the provision of high quality evidence-based, person centred rehabilitation and dysphagia management. This post will ensure the individual and family members/carers are at the centre of care.
You will work within our stroke rehabilitation ward within Biggart Hospital but also provide input to the Community Team to ensure seamless transfer of care from inpatients to community and an equitable level of care for individuals discharged from acute stroke services directly home within South Ayrshire.
Current or recent experience working with adults with dysphagia is essential.
As part of the team, you will provide clinical support and leadership to SLT colleagues and students working within stroke and, when appropriate, education to families and multidisciplinary teams.
SLT within NHS Ayrshire and Arran are committed to the provision of continuing professional development. You will in addition be supported through established support and supervision processes.
Service improvement within stroke services is an exciting aspect of this role and training can be provided if required.
You must hold a University Degree or equivalent, to practice from HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and have a postgraduate qualification in dysphagia. Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists is desirable.
Full driving licence is required.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week but flexible working patterns or part-time hours will be considered.
The post will be based at Biggart Hospital, Prestwick which is within commuting distance from Glasgow and surrounding areas.
