The Post:
The core purpose of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. In support of this, the SNBTS Tissues, Cells and Advanced Therapeutics (TCAT) Directorate is committed to a programme that will enhance the service provided to NHS Scotland in both clinical and operational areas, through the provision of a range of tissue, cellular and advanced therapy medicinal products. SNBTS also undertakes research and development which is designed to support the strategic and operational priorities of the organisation, achieve high quality and impact and add value to broader NHS and Governmental objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the SNBTS TCAT Directorate as the Head of Quality Control (QC) for the service. The successful candidate for this new post will be integral to the efficient running of this service at the Jack Copland Centre and other sites in Edinburgh, with specific responsibility for all QC-related activities pertaining to TCAT products, procedures and controlled environments. The post holder will have a variety of responsibilities including budgetary management, delivering internal and external projects to strict timelines, and line management of the QC managerial team.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate must be educated to degree level with a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent competence/experience. In addition, the post holder must have significant managerial experience and demonstrable specialist knowledge and experience in the QC and Analytics associated with tissues and/or cellular therapy/ATMP products to the appropriate regulatory standards. The ability to schedule multiple services concurrently and motivate an interdisciplinary team to deliver a complex clinical service is also essential.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
Jack Copland Centre, Edinburgh.
37.5hrs per week; Monday to Friday.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
