We are looking to recruit a full time, permanent, Clinical Support Worker based at University Hospital Hairmyres within the Day Surgery unit. 

Please note: ​​​​​​​The successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of shifts.

JOB PURPOSE

  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse/Operating Department practitioner (ODP) and will regularly work unsupervised but with the wider theatre team available for reference at all times.
  • The postholder will also carry out assigned duties involving direct and indirect patient care within the theatre environments
  • The postholder will be required to perform physical/technical/emotional aspects of patient care in an efficient, effective and responsible manner with accuracy in a busy environment.​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • SVQ III in peri-operative care or working towards or equivalent -peri operative experience.
  • Or
  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
  • Or
  • Postholders with no previous clinical healthcare experience will be treated in accordance with Annex U Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees.
  • Initial induction period of up to 3 months, followed by a period of training and consolidation to achieve full competency across a range of specialties within 12 months following induction.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • To actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology​​​​​​​
