NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest healthcare system in the UK with an annual revenue budget of c. £3.2 billion, employing around 40,000 staff. We deliver local services to a population of over 1.2 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national clinical services are included.
We are now seeking expressions of interest for the post of Deputy Medical Director - Corporate.
About the role
Successful candidates will demonstrate previous medical management experience within either Acute, Primary Care, Mental Health or Public Health services, strong influencing and leadership qualities and the ability to inspire the confidence and respect of colleagues to lead and deliver on key professional and service objectives.
This role will carry a time allowance equivalent to 5 programmed activities, which will be discussed on an individual basis to determine the split between direct clinical care and supporting professional activities. Remuneration will be per NHS Scotland Consultant contract with an annual Management Fee of £25,000. It is expected that prospective candidates may wish to continue some clinical sessions in addition to Deputy Medical Director’s sessions and this can be accommodated within an agreed job plan.
The role will provide professional leadership to staff, promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement and ensuring there are robust systems are in place to monitor, review and improve clinical performance in line with Professional standards.
The role will directly influence the strategic direction of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Sectors, Directorates and Board, and will support the Board’s Medical Director to plan high quality, safe,efficient,patient-centered in compliance with local and national targets.
