About the Organisation:

The Posts:

The role of Clinical and Protecting Health is to monitor and investigate the extent and impact of a number of factors on health. This will drive healthcare public health and research activities and support health improvement programmes that aim to reduce the burden of factors that create poor public health. 

The post-holders will provide strategic pharmaceutical public health and professional advice within PHS providing services, working in partnership with a wide range of strategic partners and stakeholders, to support public health advocacy, policy and service delivery.

We have posts in the following programmes (see additional information in attachments):

  • National Medicines Intelligence Programme (up to 37.5 hours per week)
  • Vaccination Programmes (up to 22.5 hours per week)

The Candidate:

You will bring experience of working at a senior level in clinical and /or pharmaceutical public health practice with practical experience of managing projects and using data to facilitate change and drive service improvement. 

You must be a registered pharmacist with the GPhC with evidence of continuing professional development. 

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:

Based at Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Meridian Court, Glasgow. Currently operating a hybrid working model. There is an expectation for some travel between the base and other Public Health Scotland offices.

Full time/ part time hours considered.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
