Specialist Occupational Therapist (Hub)
North East Locality
Salary: Band 6
Hours: 2 x Full Time, 37.5 hours per week Permanent
To act independently to provide a full comprehensive specialist service of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral and discharge to a complex range of patients referred to the service.
To prevent hospital admission, facilitate flow, provide rehabilitation and prevent avoidable admission.
To supervise Occupational Therapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers and OT students.
To deputise for the team lead in meetings related to specialist clinical area.
To develop and deliver training programmes for a wide range of professionals and carers to educate carers and significant others in the understanding of both the therapy process and any intervention relating to the management of patients medical and social needs.
Candidates must have a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
You should be able to work independently and have an excellent understanding of clinical practice and the standards expected by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy, Lothian Health and the City of Edinburgh Council, as this is an integrated team.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
