Job Advert

Our Forensic Mental Health Service is delighted to invite applications from individuals interested in taking up a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist or Consultant Psychiatrist post within our team.

The service consists of an inpatient Low Secure Unit, a Forensic Community Mental Health Team and NHS input to the Women’s Justice Team, which is a joint endeavour with partner agencies focussed on addressing the needs of women who have come into the justice system. Opportunities for psychiatrists who wish to join the team are based in the Low Secure Unit and the Forensic Community Mental Health Team.

The Low Secure Unit is at Stratheden Hospital near Cupar and consists of a 9 bedded ward and a 2 bedded step-down unit within the hospital grounds which is the only unit of its kind in Scotland.  The Forensic Community Mental Health Team is based at Lynebank Hospital in Dunfermline and holds a maximum caseload of 30 patients.

There is a full multidisciplinary team working across the service and you would work alongside a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist colleague, with Speciality Doctor and Core Trainee support.

There is an excellent range of training and development opportunities available, and personal development is strongly encouraged and supported within the service. Opportunities exist for those with interests in quality improvement work, academic work or clinical leadership.

The team is relatively small, but is well established, friendly and offers a highly supportive working environment. The service is committed to enabling staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

There is full flexibility for the successful candidate to negotiate the configuration of the post and whether this will be an inpatient, community or split post. Additional information about the service and role is contained within the job description for the post.
