This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of specialist clinical skills and supervisory experience working within the physiotherapy medical team based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. You will deliver high quality patient care across oncology, haematology and palliative care services to  support patients from diagnosis to living beyond treatment and supporting patients and their families during end of life care.

You should have relevant advanced clinical skills/knowledge from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across the Medical specialities.You will have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in a supported environment with a focus on person centred care, evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, supported discharge, multi-professional integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will deliver Physiotherapy interventions and develop therapeutic programmes and discharge pathways to meet the needs of the patients referred to the service.

You will carry a complex caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality, provide  specialised resource and training to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in service development, clinical governance and clinical research.

Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.

Hours of work are:  37.5 hours per week.

Part time hours worked over 4 or 5 days will also be considered. Please discuss at interview if you wish to work reduced hours.
