The shift pattern for this post is 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday

An audio typist is required to help provide a comprehensive typing service to Orthopaedic Consultants, Nurse Specialists, ESP’s and junior staff within the busy Trauma & Orthopaedic Department, as well as supporting the secretarial team. Occasional assistance in other admin roles may be required within the service. The role of the job is challenging and a high degree of accuracy is required at all times. You will be required to use your own initiative and competency whilst exercising a high degree of confidentiality, and be responsible for scheduling your own workload to ensure typing is done within turnaround targets. You should have a Secretarial Studies certificate, advanced keyboard skills and accurate transcription speeds, good communication skills and proven proficiency in English and medical terminology. You should have knowledge of PC Office software packages. The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm. Initial training for this post will take place at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Essential
1.Advanced keyboard skills and experience of audio typing systems.
2.Proven proficiency in English.
3. Have the ability to work independently and use your own initiative
4. Have the ability to organise and prioritise workload
5. Have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals

Desirable
1. Good knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous
2. Awareness of Trust Policies and Procedures
3. Knowledge of a range of patient administration systems
