An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Violence and Aggression Prevention Team within the Health & Safety Department of NHS Lanarkshire. 

You will join the existing team to help promote and support safer practice within NHS Lanarkshire, contributing to the strategy of supporting staff in preventing incidents of violence and aggression as well as helping staff to be equipped to manage incidents that occur. This strategy is in line with relevant legislation and the NHS Lanarkshire Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression Policy. 

You will undertake development, co-ordination and provision of education, training and guidance within clinical and non-clinical areas for managing violence and aggression. This entails provision of information, guidance and training on all aspects of violence and aggression management. Formulating, designing, facilitating, and auditing education and training programmes for a multi-disciplinary workforce.  Supervision, audit and evaluation of violence and aggression prevention practice in line with current legislation.   You will work with other Violence and Aggression Prevention Team tutors / trainers and report to the Statutory Training Compliance Manager.

The following knowledge, training and / or experience is required:

​​​​​​​Essential

  • Higher level general or professional education with appropriate experience. Examples would be a nursing or other professional or clinical qualification – NMC / AHP Registration.
  • Evidence of working within a health / social care setting. 
  • Good communication and presentation skills and a working knowledge of IT including word processing, databases and presentation software.
  • A full and valid driving license and access to your own transport is an essential element of the job role.
  • Physical ability to model, demonstrate and participate in a range of physical training activities.

Desirable

  • [National Control and Restraint (General Services)] Tutor qualification or equivalent (this can be obtained in post within an agreed period).
  • A demonstrable knowledge, understanding and ability in professional issues relating to the prevention and management of violence and aggression.
  • Previous training experience.
  • Recognised teaching / training qualification.                        
  • First Aid certificate.
