Applications are invited for a GpwER to join NHS Ayrshire and Arran to work within and help shape our Sleep Medicine. The development of this new role provides an opportunity for the post holder to learn new skills and gain expert knowledge of Sleep Medicine, under the supervision of a Sleep Medicine Consultant at Glasgow. The post holder will initially support the clinical oversight of patients of the Sleep Service at the supervising Consultants’ clinic.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine is a part of the Acute Division, which is associated with the University of Glasgow Medical School. The Sleep Service in Greater Glasgow & Clyde has bases in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Gartnavel General Hospital, Victoria Infirmary, and Royal Alexandria Hospital.
The department covers the full spectrum of sleep disorders, with the majority of the work being Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome. The clinics also deal with the more complex sleep disorders including narcolepsy and parasomnias.
There are 2 clinical sessions available. The session will initially be delivered in Gartnavel Hospital with the support of the sleep team and then delivered locally with Ayrshire and Arran. Post will be for 12 months in the first instance, following a review after 12 months it may be possible for the post to become permanent.
Salary: £77,902.00 - £98,555.000
Please note: this is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 1 year.
The clinics will be 4 hrs in total, 3 hr clinical 1 hr Admin/Audit. The time of the second session is negotiable. The remaining weekly sessions will be worked in a GP practice within Ayrshire (to be identified).
