It’s an exciting time to join the organisation, with PHS at the forefront of Scotland’s efforts to tackle Coronavirus and its implications across society.

The post:
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your passion for designing excellent online user experiences to delivering digital services for Public Health Scotland.

You will provide strategic content design support to a range of digital projects, ensuring that all digital content is user-focused, actionable, usable, accessible, and measurable, to effectively engage the target audience. You will supervise the work of content team members involved in projects and will have line management responsibility for some content design roles.

The candidate:
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have proven skills and experience in:

  • Leading and planning digital content and user experience across a range of digital products, informed by insights into users’ needs
  • A good understanding of user research and testing techniques
  • Digital content governance and publishing, working with web Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Using analytics and user feedback to measure digital content and services, and inform continual improvement
  • Managing and motivating staff – either in a manager or supervisory role – to achieve high-quality results and provide an excellent customer-focused service
  • Communicating effectively with customers, partners and stakeholders and conveying complex or difficult messages clearly and concisely

You will also have excellent organisational skills to plan and manage multiple digital content projects concurrently.

Ideally, you will have experience of contributing to innovative digital service design or transformation projects and working as part of project teams using the agile methodology.

Location and working pattern:
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
