An opportunity has arisen within the eHealth Network team for a Network Engineer. The post holder will work within a small team to provide a specialised service to NHS Highland covering all aspects of our data network and associated systems.

The post is responsible for the management and upgrading of NHS Highland's network, installation and de-commissioning as well as firewall management and network infrastructure security.

A minimum of 5 years working within large corporate network environments is essential, as well as a full driving licence. The post holder will have a thorough understanding of large scale network design, network protocols, infrastructure hardware and proven hands-on experience of complex network trouble shooting. The post will involve regular travel across the Highlands and periods of unsocial hours working.

The eHealth Department is described as the development, application and implementation of technology to improve effectiveness in healthcare. It includes the use of telemedicine and clinical systems used for diagnosis and care pathways. It also applies to the policies and protocols that assure the confidentiality and security of sensitive data and those aspects that support major change of working practice – training, support and organisational development.
