Specialty Doctor, Substance Misuse, Royal Cornhill Hospital

​​​​​​​Applications are sought  for enthusiastic candidates with experience in Substance Misuse, shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); or  have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

​​​​​​​We invite applicants to apply for this full time Speciality Doctor post within Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership. It is anticipated that the job will be mostly based in Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen although the post holder will also be required to work from our Timmermarket Clinic, Aberdeen as required to meet service needs. Please note, there is no on call requirement in this post.

The post holder will work within a large multidisciplinary team to support substance misuse treatment in the Substance Misuse Service in Aberdeen City. The appointee will work directly under the supervision of a Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist. The Substance Misuse Service offers specialist secondary care services and supports a community based shared model of care with Primary Care services.

The clinical work is varied and will include carrying out Mental State Assessments, prescribing Medication Assisted Treatments, managing your own caseload of outpatients and providing medical/psychiatric input to the multidisciplinary team.

Royal Cornhill Hospital offers a full range of Mental Health services including General Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Liaison Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Substance Misuse.  The service has fully accredited schemes for Basic and Higher Training in Psychiatry.
