SCOTTISH STRATEGIC NETWORK for GENOMIC MEDICINE ABERDEEN LABORATORY

Principal Clinical Scientist - Head of Germline Services

Applications are invited from HCPC registered clinical scientists for a permanent post as a Principal Clinical Scientist in the role of Head of Germline Services in the Aberdeen Genomics Laboratory. The laboratory is part of the Scottish Strategic Network for Genomic Medicine, funded by the National Services Division, and provides Genetic and Molecular Pathology diagnostic testing in Scotland.

​​​​​​​Experience and qualifications

Applicants should have an honours degree in a biological science and a postgraduate qualification, or equivalent level of experience, in a subject relevant to genomics.  Applicants should also be HCPC registered clinical scientists in a relevant discipline. 

Candidates are required to have a high level of relevant scientific knowledge and expertise combined with experience in complex analysis, interpretation and reporting of results across a range of rare and inherited disease.  Experience of the management of services and the development and/or implementation of new testing pathways is also essential.  Excellent communication skills with a range of personnel is also essential, with a track record of working in, and leading, a team.

Candidates should be enthusiastic, have a flexible attitude and be able to demonstrate commitment to the development and improvement of high quality diagnostic genomic services
