Job Advert

1 junior clinical fellow post (wte) in PLASTIC SURGERY and burns from asap to 2 august 2023 (with possibility of further 12 month extension)

Base: Canniesburn plastic surgery unit, glasgow royal infirmary

This vacancy exists in the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit at FY2/CT level, based within the internationally renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, which is part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The post is suitable for an enthusiastic candidate who may be seeking to gain some experience in Burns & Plastic Surgery with a view to a career in Plastic Surgery, but equally for those who might wish to gain exposure to Burns and Plastic Surgery as an adjunct to a career in another surgical speciality. There is opportunity for those who are less surgically inclined, but looking for experience of Medicine in General.

Although these posts do not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean, you will benefit from wide exposure to the work of the Unit, which comprises a wide range of plastic surgery. Previous experience in Burns and Plastic Surgery is desirable, but not essential.

The work will be at FY2/CT level (full-time posts have an on-call rota 1:11), and is expected to have rostered educational opportunities (clinics and theatre, including supervised operating on LA lists, tailored to include index cases). The expectation is that during this tenure, and with support from the Unit, you would enhance your Curriculum Vitae by submitting publications to peer-reviewed journals, and presentations to learned societies.

To practise medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC full registration and a Licence to Practise. Training opportunities will be made available to the successful candidate.

These posts have not been approved for Training purposes by NHS Education for Scotland (NES).
