This is an exciting opportunity for a podiatrist or new graduate who is enthusiastic, self-motivated to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the Podiatry Service within East Ayrshire HSCP.  Please note, this advert is also open to current 4th year students who will be close to qualifying in the 2023 academic year. 

You will work through an induction programme with a planned programme of development, to enable the post holder to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

In partnership with patients and their family/carers, the postholder will provide a person centred, holistic approach to care for those with long term, complex conditions where we aim to promote, provide and support foot health, maximise mobility and improve quality of life. Caseloads consist of a wide variety of clinical conditions including frail elderly orthopaedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation and general adult rehabilitation. Long term conditions with multi-morbidity presentations are common. 

You will develop the skills to appropriately delegate, and supervise the care of patients to Podiatry Assistants and Carers as appropriate.
You will provide supported direct clinical care which encompasses assessment, treatment and management of patients, including risk management of diabetic foot pathologies, wound management, and falls prevention with risk assessments undertaken.

You will undertake supervised/long arm support in Minor Surgical procedures (nail surgery).

You will also be required to work alongside, supervise and support Podiatry Assistants, Healthcare Assistant and support student placements.
You will be based within East HSCP, and on occasions may be expected to work across all three NHS Ayrshire & Arran Health & Social Care Partnerships. 

You will have HCPC registration and possess (or contingent in possessing) a B.Sc. in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to work flexibly and respond to the changing needs of the service.

IT skills are essential 
The service provides excellent CPD support including local service mentorship and offers the opportunity to work within a progressive Podiatry Service and Team that delivers quality podiatric care 

A car driver is essential.
