We are looking for a highly experienced innovative paediatric dietitian with excellent clinical, managerial, organisational and communication skills to lead our dietetic service to Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition in NHSGGC and to support patients and clinical staff.
The Royal Hospital for Children is the largest Paediatric Centre in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK and provides a national and tertiary service for all the major Paediatric specialties, as well as secondary care to the local population. The department also manages Paediatric services at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), Inverclyde Hospital (IRH) and the Vale of Leven Hospital (VOL). The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics has a team of dietitians 37.6 wte dietitians, support workers and admin staff delivering the Nutrition & Dietetic service across NHSGC and has an integrated acute and community paediatric dietetic service to ensure continuity of care and seamless service.
As a tertiary referral centre for the West of Scotland, the post holder will have a varied, challenging and complex caseload, including a Dietetic Led Coeliac Service, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Short Gut Syndrome, Liver disease and Coeliac disease. Working with 6 consultant paediatric gastroenterologists, a nurse consultant, 9 clinical nurse specialist (7.5wte) and 3.8wte Dietitians.
The post holder will be responsible for managing and developing a highly specialised dietetic service to the PGHAN department within RHC and work as an Advanced practitioner for the Dietetic Led Coeliac Service. There are approximately 830 gastroenterology patients managed by the dietitians. The post holder will also be responsible for the management of team of 11.4wte dietitians working in three other clinical specialties and the special feeds unit.
Applicants will have a BSc in Dietetics or equivalent, be registered with the HCPC and have post graduate training in Paediatric Dietetics to masters level or equivalent and substantial clinical experience and post graduate training. Applications will be welcome from dietitians with paediatric and or gastroenterology experience and experience in service evaluation and research, guideline/protocol development and management/supervision of staff.
