The Opportunity

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking to appoint a new Senior Organisational Development Adviser who will work directly with our Acute Hospital and Corporate Services Directors and their senior management teams.

Presenting a rare and exciting career opportunity to join and become an influential player in one of the largest NHS Organisational Development (OD) teams in Scotland who deliver a wide and varied range of OD initiatives and projects which form a key part of the board’s Workforce Strategy. These have a particular focus on leadership, culture, and talent and team development across our Acute and Corporate Directorates.

Most importantly we are seeking a candidate with an informed understanding of the issues currently facing a large, complex and multi professional workforce in Health and Social Care, or comparable large scale Public or Private sector organisations.

The scale and ambitions of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde make our team one of the most exciting places to practice OD in Scotland.

About Us

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest healthcare system in Scotland, employing around 41,000 staff. We care passionately about our workforce and as a key part of our Human Resources function our OD teams have a significant role enabling effective delivery of strategic, corporate and operational plans for providing Better Health, Better Care, Better Value and a Better Workplace.

Role Responsibility

As well as providing an OD service to our Acute Sectors and to Corporate Services Directorates, these roles have responsibility for the design and delivery of one or more system wide OD provisions or processes such as our implementation of Investors in People or development of Mentoring.

With a collaborative and results orientated approach to OD you will be able to apply your skills and expertise to highly complex service change as well as leadership and culture development initiatives that will have a real impact on improving care for our patients and to continue to develop NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a great place to work for our staff.

Operating at significant scale and pace you will become a key member of an already established and forwarding thinking OD team, and will have the opportunity to work closely with operational and clinical teams across a wide and varied range of NHS service development programmes underpinned with sound change management capability.

Crucially as an expert and key authority on OD advice and interventions you will also have an important role to support Human Resource colleagues, Senior Managers and Union colleagues in the resolution of people related issues.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual

We are seeking someone who will bring innovation and imagination to the role to ensure that it delivers a modern, effective and fit for purpose OD service during this period of significant change and beyond.

Our ideal candidate will bring extensive expert knowledge and experience in a similar role designing interventions that support effective service delivery, implementation of change, leadership development, team-based working and culture development.

Candidates will require to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills with a collaborative and collegiate working style. It goes without saying the post holder will have a visible style, able to earn the confidence and respect necessary to bring about real change to OD practices.

The post holder will have the stature to communicate and build relationships with a wide array of key stakeholders and have a track record working at senior/board level delivering organisational change and development initiatives using a project management skill-set.

Educated to degree level or equivalent and have a masters degree in an OD related discipline (or experience that demonstrates a similar level of knowledge and learning) is an essential criteria.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We look forward to receiving your application.
