Band 7 – Dermatology Senior Charge Nurse, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
We are seeking to appoint a Dermatology Senior Charge Nurse, full time (37.5 hours), to join the existing Dermatology team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).
Dermatology services are delivered in two locations: Burnside House on the Foresterhill site at ARI and Ward 406 in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary itself. This dedicated and integrated Dermatology unit provides comprehensive Dermatology services for the large geographical region of Grampian in the North East of Scotland (population approx. 560 000).
The role involves the Senior Charge Nurse leading and supporting an established team of nurses while working in conjunction with other healthcare professionals. The team are integral in the daily running of the Dermatology clinics, providing treatments and therapies as well as advice and education to patients. The SCN will be central in leading the team while supporting change and developments within the unit.
The Department is supported by a dedicated group of clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals and the successful candidate will be expected to work within this busy well established department and integrate with the team. Therefore, good communication and networking skills are essential.
The Foresterhill campus is reputed to be the largest in Europe with the principal medical services for Grampian and the Medical School closely integrated. On site are internationally renowned facilities such as the Institute for Medical Sciences, the Health Economic Research Unit and the shortly to be opened Rowett Institute of Nutrition. There are currently two large building project taking place on the Foresterhill Site, the National Treatment Centre and the Baird Family Hospital, which will build on this reputation and provide patient centre care in new and modern settings.
Aberdeen is a cosmopolitan city and the oil capital of Europe. It has comprehensive transport links with the rest of the UK and Europe, a range of excellent schools and high-quality housing. Applicants must be a registered nurse and educated to first degree level or with equivalent experience with a commitment to ongoing professional development and extensive experience in adult dermatology nursing. Desirable attributes include experience in line managing staff, teaching and audit experience.
