This is a hands on post in the eHealth Department. The post is positioned in an existing small technical development & support team located within the Digital Transformation division within the wider eHealth department which supports a diverse range of services within the local organisation in addition to external parties and suppliers.
The post is a more junior, but important role within the team. A large amount of day to day work will be performing a web content management (CMS) developer/designer role together with elements of general support for systems covered by the team including end user support. However, in addition, the role also provides successful candidates an opportunity to perform a junior programmer role within the team allowing you to develop coding, analysis, development methodology and technical documentation skills.
Applications from recent graduates that can demonstrate web content development and programming skills and knowledge will be welcomed and given equal consideration to those who can demonstrate a more comprehensive work experience.
The workload on the team is varied and calls on individual skills and strengths of individual team members. Therefore, sometimes you may be part of a larger piece of work owned by another member of the team whilst at other times you may be the lead for a piece of work being undertaken by the team.
NHS Lanarkshire is a “Microsoft house” with some peripheral non Microsoft systems. So your knowledge, skills and experience should be largely Microsoft related.
The position should offer challenge, innovation and be highly rewarding to the successful candidate allowing them to contribute to the design and development of solutions to support systems under the remit of the Digital Transformation division and wider eHealth Department whilst expanding their technical skills.
About You
- A sound knowledge of Web content management (CMS) tools (ideally including Sharepoint, Umbraco).
- A working knowledge of Web site design and development.
- A working knowledge of 1 or more mainstream programming languages.
- Good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong documentation skills with an ethos in the importance of documentation.
- A good communicator with experience of working collaboratively with colleagues.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence other stakeholders where necessary.
- Ability to plan and prioritise own and others workloads.
- Work independently and collaboratively where required.
Experience of some of the following is desirable but not essential:
- Sharepoint
- Umbraco web content management system (CMS) software.
- Commercial integration engines such as Ensemble or Rhapsody
- Orion clinical portal
- Azure environment
- M365 environment
- MS SQL Server & SQL
- “Code light” development tools such as M365 power apps or MS Access
- DevOps and/or Agile software design methodology.
- A working knowledge of powershell script or other script languages
- Development & design experience or knowledge including knowledge of some or all of the following:
- .Net
- Java Script
- C#
- Web services
- HTML
- XML
- SQL
- Knowledge of mainstream software design methodologies, preferably including 1 or more of Agile, DevOps, Waterfall and RAD.
Other relevant knowledge and Microsoft qualifications considered an advantage but not essential:
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform
- Microsoft Certified: or one or more of the following:
- Microsoft Certified: Programing in C#
- Microsoft Certified: Introduction to Programming Using JavaScript
- Microsoft Certified: Developing ASP.NET MVC Web Applications
- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Power Apps + Dynamics 365 Developer
- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Azure Developer Core Solutions
Note: The post supports hybrid working but requires a minimum of 2 days a week to work from the office. Full home working cannot be offered and successful candidates must be able to commute to our Bothwell offices and on occasion to other NHS Lanarkshire sites to work from site. In this respect, the postholder must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
