An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Caithness Occupational Therapy Team. The post holder will be working in the community as an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner on the west side of the county with an office base at William Smith House in Thurso.
Occupational Therapy assistant practitioners are core members of the Occupational Therapy team and as such you will work closely with the OTs, along with other members of the multi disciplinary team including the community nurses, community physiotherapy, social workers and the care at home service. As part of this role you will be expected to work closely with service users and their family /carers. Good communication skills are essential to this post.
The post holder will be expected to manage their own caseload under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The person will need to have the ability to work alone but still be a team player. The role requires you to be adaptable, self motivated and able to respond to challenges.
With current initiatives such as discharge to assess, hospital at home service and the provision of community rehab we aim to enable service users to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Rehabilitation will focus on maximising independence with activities of daily living and the provision of minor equipment and adaptations.
The post holder may be required to in reach to the hospital in order to facilitate early supported discharge and be responsive within the community to prevent hospital admission so flexibility is vital to this role.
A full UK driving licence is essential and, though a pool car may be available, applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes.
This is a full-time permanent post of 37.5 hours per week, to be worked in accordance with service requirements.
